Ferocious Quarterly

September 3rd, 2010 — 10:10am

Ferocious is a curated, quarterly publication that collects illustrators, graphic artists, short fiction authors and written text.

I came across Ferocious this morning and it looks to be a beautifully curated, designed, and printed quarterly. It will certainly be at the top of my list of pubs to buy. Excellent work!

Ferocious Quarterly is published by Nate Utesch.

Sutnar After Dark

May 6th, 2010 — 9:23am

Great article over at AIGA covering the lesser known “Strip Street” series by the amazing Czech artist & designer Ladislav Sutnar. If you’d like to learn more about Ladislav and see more of his work, there is a super site covering his life and work over at sutnar.cz.

Ulana @ MoCCA

April 8th, 2010 — 10:30am

My good friend and supremely-talented illustrator friend Ulana Zahajkewycz (I write her last name all the time because I am proud to spell it without hesitation) will have a table at the MoCCA Festival this Saturday and Sunday. Stop by and check out her awesome work if you have the chance. Above is a preview of a small book she’s doing, entitled Some Kind of Average Avengers

Obsessive Consumption

March 29th, 2010 — 1:44pm

A couple of years back I went to a group show here in Milwaukee. Among the featured artists was work by Kate Bingaman-Burt. It looks like she’s getting a lot of press lately, launching her book this month and being featured on Swiss-Miss. I was stoked. I get excited when someone I recognize receives good press. Her work is quite memorable, and in this current climate, that’s saying something. Congrats on the new book, Kate.

Lost in the Discovery of What Shapes the Mind

March 27th, 2010 — 11:06am

I am the Twin Cities for a long weekend, and I feel lucky. Not only do I get to see some of my great friends here, but I also get to see some new work by Mike Perry over at the MCAD main gallery. I’m stoked, because I just read an interview with him in the winter issue of Elephant. I forgot that I like it here!
