Ferocious Quarterly

September 3rd, 2010 — 10:10am

Ferocious is a curated, quarterly publication that collects illustrators, graphic artists, short fiction authors and written text.

I came across Ferocious this morning and it looks to be a beautifully curated, designed, and printed quarterly. It will certainly be at the top of my list of pubs to buy. Excellent work!

Ferocious Quarterly is published by Nate Utesch.

Steve Austin has a design studio?

June 5th, 2010 — 9:21am

Rumor has it the 6 million dollar man started a design studio in Düsseldorf, Germany. Check out the excellent work of Bionic Systems. Even if Steve Austin had nothing to do with it, the work is still superhuman.

EnVision Releases Electric (Lady)Wagon(Land)

May 17th, 2010 — 12:14pm

This is a true story. This past Saturday, as I was listening to the Gulf disaster unfold, I decided that enough is enough. I simply can’t be a willing participant in the dumb petroleum game. “I need an electric station wagon. Where is my electric station wagon? Who hasn’t thought of this yet?” After 5 minutes online, I found it. The future is here, thanks to EnVision Motor Company.

The Electric Wagon (do you guys need a branding consultant, by the way?) sports a nickel sodium chloride battery and has a range of 200 + miles and speeds of 75 MPH +. This is exactly what I was looking for. At $37,000, it’s a little steep for me, but the maintenance & fuel savings seems to make up for the price differential after 6-10 years or so. Oh, and it qualifies for the full $7,500 Federal tax credit.

Nice work, EnVision!

LowwwRider

May 11th, 2010 — 10:18am

Fantastic bikes hand-built by Jason Battersby. I believe him when he writes that they are the coolest bikes in the world. This pic alone makes me want to move to Toronto. He even pinstriped this beauty by hand. More pics and bikes are available at Behance.

We Will Triumph in Time, Grasshopper

April 20th, 2010 — 11:23am

Check out the Grasshopper, a great-looking electric bicycle designed by David Gonçalves. More pics of his project can be seen here. Excellent work.

Also, check out the latest Worldchanging article concerning the status of the electric bike in North America. Enlightening, informative, and entertaining. That’s why I like Worldchanging so much.

April 8th, 2010 — 10:30am

My good friend and supremely-talented illustrator friend Ulana Zahajkewycz (I write her last name all the time because I am proud to spell it without hesitation) will have a table at the MoCCA Festival this Saturday and Sunday. Stop by and check out her awesome work if you have the chance. Above is a preview of a small book she’s doing, entitled Some Kind of Average Avengers

Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. is my Hero

March 22nd, 2010 — 3:22pm

Really great, inspirational work from printer Amos Kennedy Jr. He had an excellent show at Redline here in Milwaukee a couple of weeks back. I left with an armload of prints. Also check out the new documentary about him by Laura Zinger.

Chat Roulette Piano Improv

March 17th, 2010 — 8:51am

I saw this video earlier on YouTube. The guy looks like me so I had to post it. It is work like this that reaffirms my faith in humanity. Alright, that may be a little too much, but it did make me smile.

Ulanaland!

February 26th, 2010 — 5:03pm

My good friend Ulana moved to Jersey recently, and I miss her. So I’m posting her work, because it’s like having a little conversation with her. “Howdy Ulana. Boy, your work is boss. I love it. I sure would like to have some of that great art. Where do you go to see more of it?” Ulanaland, of course.
